STEM Kits for STEM classes: Grades 5-7
Please be informed that the STEM Kits have been imported and are made available with text books and stationery items for purchase. The Kits are to be used by children of Grades 1-7 in the Science and Technology classes. You are requested to deposit Taka 4500 to DPS STS Accounts (both Campuses). This is a onetime yearly payment.

- What is STEM?
In countries like the US the schools take the initiative of integrating the key branches of study and follow a programme, in which learning, and development, integrates, the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. (STEM)
It has been analysed that through this approach students develop their cognitive ability
which help them, in any part of their lives to solve the following:
- Problem solving
- Critical analysis
- Independent thinking
- Digital literacy

- Why is STEM important?
As the global economy is changing. Current jobs are disappearing due to automation, and new jobs are emerging every day as a result of technological advances.
The continual advances in technology are changing the way students learn, connect and interact every day. Skills developed by students through STEM provide them with the foundation to succeed at school and in real-life situations, both natural and simulated. In the Job Market the employer demand for STEM qualifications and skills is high, and will continue to increase in the future. Currently, 75 % of jobs in the fastest growing industries require workers with STEM skills. To be competitive, any country’s workforce needs people who can adapt to a changing workplace. This is one key area in which STEM props up. STEM empowers individuals with the skills to succeed and adapt to this changing world.
- Why is it being introduced from the Junior levels?
Research has demonstrated that the drive to explore, interact, and observe in human beings begin in early childhood, long before middle and high school, and even before elementary school. At the same time, the nation’s economy is moving toward technologically based industries, creating growth in demand for workers proficient in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The question is, how can any country cultivate a generation of adults that is prepared to thrive in the 21stcentury economy? The answer is to begin recruiting and training them to serve in Early -Childhood education capacities. Despite overwhelming evidence in support of this approach, high-quality STEM programming has not yet been incorporated into Early -Childhood education.
